RULES of the GAME:
- Arrange the chairs with a 40-foot distance between them (recommended and based on skill level). If you’re a pro, you can take it out further.
- Players on the same team should stay on the same side. The game can be played with as few as one player on each team, up to four players on each team. For example, one player can be on the left and three players on the right. For teams with two or more players, make sure to have at least one player on each side.
THIS IS HOW THE POINT SCORING SYSTEM WORKS:
Score a touchdown worth 6 points by throwing the ball into the basket. If you throw the ball and hit any part of the chair, including the uprights, it’s a completion and worth 3 points.
On defense, if the ball hits the chair first and bounces, and the defense catches it, they can kneel for 3 points or choose to return the ball. If they return the ball, the defense must be downed by a two-hand touch, after which they can throw the ball towards the chair for points. Each team has one attempt.
For games with 2, 3, or 4 players, both offense and defense can come to play, allowing blocking and lateral pitches.
AFTER YOU SCORE A TOUCHDOWN:
Begin by kicking the ball from the T. If it goes through the uprights, the kicking team earns 1 point. However, if the ball lands in the bucket, it’s a “FITZ” and the game is instantly won by the kicking team.
When the kick goes wide right or left, it’s still in play, and the defense has the opportunity to catch and return it, following the same rules as Interception Returns above.
To win the game, a team must score at least 54 points. Once they reach 54 points, they must win by a margin of 2 points. If the opposing team is within 7 points, the game continues.
HAIL MARY!
If you’re behind by more than 8 points, you can take steps back from the bucket equal to the point deficit. If you can toss the ball into the bucket from there, you’ll win and be hoisted up and celebrated like Rudy from the movie.
